History

Childhood

Greta grew up believing herself to be the daughter of Phillip Von Amberg, although he was not her biological father.

Greta studied acting, and as a teenager was approached by Ernesto Toscano to impersonate Hope Brady in what she believed to be a magic trick. After taking Hope's place in a cage suspended over a vat of acid, Greta's role was to scream "Bo!", which she did. However, the cage exploded, and Greta was extensively burned on her face.

Swamp Girl

Greta was taken to New Orleans to recuperate. After several surgeries, she could no longer handle the pain, so Greta disappeared into the bayou. Living amongst the wilderness, Greta became an urban legend called "Swamp Girl". Greta was discovered by Bo when he came to New Orleans in 1998.

Salem

Greta was self-conscious because of her scars. John Black paid for her to have experimental laser surgery that removed the scars. Greta developed a crush on Eric Brady that developed into a full-blown relationship. Nicole Walker, however, came between Greta and Eric.

Princess Greta Von Amberg

Following the death of her mother, Princess Gina, Greta discovered she was to become a princess herself. At her coronation, an assassination attempt was made by her mother's psychotic former butler, Charles. At the same time, the Moroni family attacked Victor Kiriakis in a mob hit. Greta and many other were shot. Charles remains at large.

Greta and Jack

Greta developed feelings for Jack Deveraux. Jack, who wanted Jennifer back, was uncomfortable when Greta revealed her feelings for him, so he told her he was gay. After the truth came out, a heartbroken Greta left Salem, never to return.

Greta's Father

The identity of Greta's father remains a mystery. On her deathbed, Gina told Greta her father was in Salem and revealed his identity, but Greta never told anyone. John Black was a frontrunner, but shortly before her departure Greta claimed that he was not her father.
